We don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of Us if We're paying attention and practicing gratitude.

At GreatDaneFul, Rah and Her Pack embody the Power of pawsitivity, and embrace that Energy to face Life with an optimistic outlook. 

Like most Lives, the Souls that form the Collective that is GreatDaneFul have experienced some doggone challenges - but through it all, We have grown into strong and capable Leaders of the Pack, humbling bowing in deep reverence, thankful for the experiences that have given meaning to Our Lives.

Our Story is quite the Journey and it began with Maximus the Great. 

Max's Story:

Max was considered an Albino Harlequin Great Dane. 

As an 8 Week old Puppy, born deaf, Max was subjected to threats of being drowned by the Humans He was in the care of before He found Rah. 

Over the course of Max's 7 Years of Life, He experienced many challenges. Max was afflicted with severe mange due to a compromised Immune System which caused Skin infections and the loss of the majority of His Fur - exposing His limited pigmented Body to much discomfort surrounding the Sun and connecting with His Humans via pets. Max developed epilepsy around a Year into His Life resulting in grand mal seizures in which He required medication to manage for the duration of His Life. 

Did Max have it easy? No. 

Did the Humans that took responsibility for His care have it easy? No. 

Despite the challenges Max endured, His gratitude for Life was felt. He appreciated His Time on Earth - the lessons He learned, the lessons He taught and those He was able to share His Life with. 

Max taught Rah much about Selflessness, sacrifice, perseverance, community support, trust, unconditional Love and, of course, gratitude.

Our Journey continues with Seth.

Seth's Story:

Seth found Rah as a 6 Week old Pup. 

Rah was excited for another great adventure, hoping for many happy and healthy Years with Seth. 

Seth was a social Guy who Loved going to Dog Parks and making all the Friends. He was an active Dane who enjoyed swimming, going for walks, fetching Sticks and teaching His Feline Brothers how to play Dog games.

Seth Loved Life and Loved His Humans with His whole Heart.

Seth Loved so much that He collapsed one Day.

He was taken to the Vet where He was diagnosed with Heart Failure at the beginning of December 2021.

He was put on medication for a couple Weeks to aid in the reduction of fluid around His Heart and to see what His Life expectancy could be, but He was not the same happy Seth. He was lethargic and spent most of those Days sleeping. 

Rah had to make a tough decision based on lessons from the Past, and She chose quality over quantity. Meds were discontinued and Seth's vigor returned for a little over a Week. 

Rah embraced and cherished every Moment with Seth, dedicated to making the rest of His Life the best of His Life. 

On New Year's Eve, 2021, Seth's Humans took Him for what would be His final walk around the Neighborhood block. A few Houses away from Home, Seth collapsed. 

His Heart pumped out the last of His Love through His physical Body as He transitioned instantaneously.

He was a little over 1.5 Years old. Seth's Life may have been short, but His mission was extensive and complete - He was here to Love, and Love He did.

Some would say that Seth's Heart failed. 

Rah sees it as Seth's Heart succeeded and She is GreatDaneFul for the heartfelt experiences She got to share in with Him.

5/2/2020 - 12/31/2021

After Seth, Rah's Life drastically changed.

She uprooted Her entire Life - moving from the Midwest to the Southwest.

Some of the first People Rah was blessed to share significant Time with upon arriving to Her new location, had a Great Dane Companion. This Pup was such a salve in Her grief surrounding Seth and soothed Her Heart to embrace this next part of Her Life journey.

Around a Year and a half later into Her new Desert Life, beloved Friends of Rah and Her Husband rescued two Great Danes from an unfortunate situation. 

Obsidian and Giordano's Story: 

Obsidian (Sid) and Giordano (Gio) were abandoned and neglected - living outside in someone's backyard in the scorching triple digit heat of Las Vegas Summer. With limited shade, limited water, limited food, living in filth, Our Friends heard the Boys' howls for help. 

Through a very emotional process, Sid and Gio were rescued from those extreme conditions and began Their Journey of finding Their forever Home - one that would aid in Their recovery from what They had experienced and that would restore Their faith in Humanity.

Rah saw that these Boys were up for adoption, but at the Time She was not in a position to be an appropriate fit. But as Fate may have it, and when things are meant to be, the Stars align to materialize Destiny. 

Rah and Her Husband were able to adopt Gio and Sid and They joined the Pack in October 2023. It's been a privilege and an honor to get to know this bonded duo and to earn Their Trust, Love and Respect.

"Those who teach most about Humanity, aren't always Human."

These gentle Giants are a huge motivation as to why Rah is so invested and committed to the practice of gratitude. They have taught Her about Values and about what matters - and She will furever be GreatDaneFul.

Here's to Our Heads being at Peace, Our Hearts being full with Love, and a Life lived in Gratitude.
